Perfect Hangover Breakfast

The perfect breakfast food.

Actually the perfect Hangover breakfast would be with Bradley Cooper. Since he’s not likely to show up, try this roasted red pepper strata. You make it the day before and let it sit in the fridge overnight to soak up all the goodness. All you have to do on New Year’s day is pop it in the oven. Serve with some chicken apple sausage that you grill up the day before and just microwave to warm. You can also toss some fresh berries with a little sugar and Grand Marnier to get some vitamin C into you for a quick New Year’s Eve recovery. Happy, Happy 2011 to everyone!

Roasted Red Pepper Strata
1/2 loaf sourdough bread cut into 1/2″ cubes
8 oz cream cheese, cut into small cubes
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 cup grated monterey jack cheese
1 cup diced green onion
1/2 cup roasted red pepper, diced
8 eggs, well beaten
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1/4 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  1. Layer the first 6 ingredients in a 9″ x 13″ well oiled (or Pam) casserole dish.
  2. Mix together the last 4 ingredients and pour into the casserole dish.
  3. Press casserole down so liquid soaks into strata. Cover and refridgerate over night.
  4. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes covered, 20 more minutes uncovered, and then let stand for 10 minutes.

serves 8-10 people.
