Happy National Sourdough Bread Day

I could pop open the end and no one would know.

I know that it’s April Fool’s Day, but I’m not fooling, it’s really National Sourdough Bread Day. When I was little, my grandmother would send me down the street to the local bakery to buy a loaf of bread. By the time I got back to her house, I’d have eaten the entire inside of the loaf so it was just a shell. Nana soon learned to have me buy two loaves of bread.

I love the taste of warm or toasted sourdough with really good butter – warm and tangy with those air pockets. It’s a purist thing and I could eat an entire loaf (as I’ve previously mentioned). But maybe have some for lunch on a sandwich or a pannini. Or be adventurous and bake your own. Whatever you do, enjoy the bread and enjoy the day. – Chef Ro
